Dubai – 6 November 2026
The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has entered into a strategic partnership with Japan’s Mizuho Financial Group to support Japanese start-ups looking to expand into the UAE and the wider Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region.
Through the collaboration, up to 6,000 Mizuho start-up clients will be able to access DIFC’s innovation ecosystem, including the DIFC Innovation Hub and its digital platform, Ignyte. Eligible businesses will receive access to support for entering the regional market, as well as opportunities to connect with investors, corporate partners and mentors.
The partnership will also support areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) skills development, financial technology (FinTech) innovation and digital transformation. These initiatives are intended to help Japanese businesses explore new markets, develop partnerships and build connections within the regional business community.
For DIFC, the agreement strengthens its existing economic and business ties with Japan. The Centre is already home to 19 Japanese financial services organisations, employing approximately 560 people. These include Mizuho Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and MUFG Bank.
The collaboration provides another opportunity for Japanese start-ups to explore Dubai as a base for regional expansion. While it does not mean that all participating businesses will establish offices in DIFC, the partnership gives them access to its innovation network and resources as they consider opportunities in the UAE.
