Dubai – 30 October 2026
South African banking group Absa Group has opened a new office in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), strengthening financial connections between the Gulf region and African markets.
The new office will provide a base for Absa to engage with businesses, institutional investors and trading companies in the Gulf that are exploring opportunities to invest, expand or trade across Africa. It will also support African businesses seeking access to markets and investment opportunities in the Middle East.
Absa’s presence in DIFC reflects the growing importance of cross-border financial services, particularly as companies and investors seek opportunities across both regions. Through its established African network, the group aims to connect clients with relevant expertise in corporate and investment banking.
The DIFC branch is authorised by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) under a Category 4 licence. This permits it to arrange investment deals, advise on financial products, and arrange and advise on credit for eligible clients.
His Excellency Arif Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority, welcomed the group’s arrival, noting the Centre’s role in connecting capital, expertise and business opportunities between the Middle East and Africa.
Absa’s new office adds to DIFC’s international financial services community and reinforces Dubai’s role as a base for institutions seeking to facilitate investment and trade between regional and global markets.
