About the DIFC Grand Mosque
The DIFC Grand Mosque opened in October 2020 within Gate Avenue, the cultural and retail hub of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Designed by RMJM Architecture, the mosque features a modern and minimalist “cube within a cube” design, incorporating a perforated metal screen inspired by traditional Islamic mash Rabiya patterns.
This screen filters natural light into the interior and glows softly at night, while the outer cube is tilted toward the qibla, subtly guiding worshippers toward Mecca. Covering about 1,300 square meters, the mosque accommodates around 500 worshippers indoors, with additional outdoor prayer space.
The mosque’s contemporary architecture moves away from traditional domes and arches, instead embracing geometric precision and clean lines, including a separate stylized minaret. Inside, it provides dedicated prayer areas for men and women and hosts Jummah (Friday) prayers, serving the spiritual needs of DIFC’s diverse community of residents and professionals.
Beyond its function as a place of worship, the DIFC Grand Mosque symbolizes the fusion of tradition and modernity that defines DIFC blending Islamic heritage with innovative design to create a serene spiritual oasis within Dubai’s bustling financial district.
