About The Gate
The Gate is one of the first landmarks visitors see at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Completed in 2004, it was designed by Gensler and built for DIFC. Two granite-clad towers rise on either side of a large steel arch, giving the 15-storey office building the shape of a grand entrance.
Its strong, simple form was designed to make the financial district feel established and welcoming. A fun detail is that The Gate sits on an axis with the World Trade Centre and Emirates Towers, creating a striking line through this part of Dubai.
The arch also draws on the idea of a triumphal gateway, with a design inspired by grand European arches and adapted for DIFC. Today, it remains a familiar meeting point and a symbol of the district.
