Dubai – 13 August 2026

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) is taking a proactive approach to regulation as it seeks to strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading international financial centre while supporting innovation across the financial services sector.

With technology rapidly transforming financial markets, the DFSA is focusing on regulatory frameworks that can keep pace with emerging developments. One area receiving increasing attention is artificial intelligence (AI), particularly agentic AI systems capable of taking actions, completing tasks and operating with a greater degree of autonomy.

Agentic AI could bring significant benefits to financial institutions, including greater efficiency in areas such as compliance, risk management, customer service and operational processes. At the same time, its use creates new regulatory challenges around governance, accountability, transparency, data protection and operational resilience.

The DFSA’s proactive approach aims to address these challenges while allowing financial firms to benefit from technological innovation. By engaging with market participants and anticipating emerging developments, the regulator can provide greater clarity and encourage responsible adoption of new technologies.

This approach also supports the wider ambitions of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) to remain an attractive destination for financial institutions, technology companies, investment and talent. A regulatory environment that combines strong oversight with room for innovation can help enhance Dubai’s competitiveness in the global financial sector.

As agentic AI becomes more capable and increasingly integrated into financial services, regulators will need to consider not only how these systems operate, but also who is accountable for their decisions and actions.

For the DFSA, balancing innovation with financial stability and consumer protection will remain critical. Its focus on proactive regulation reflects a broader effort to ensure that Dubai’s financial sector can adapt to technological change while maintaining high standards of integrity and resilience.

With AI expected to play an increasingly important role in financial services, the DFSA’s forward-looking regulatory approach could help position Dubai at the forefront of responsible financial innovation.
