Dubai – 28 July 2026

Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has reached a major milestone in the first half of 2026, surpassing 10,000 active registered companies for the first time in its history. The achievement highlights Dubai’s growing appeal as a global destination for finance, innovation, and investment.

As of the end of H1 2026, DIFC is home to 10,018 active companies, representing a 30% year on year increase after welcoming 2,318 new businesses over the past 12 months.

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, and President of DIFC, said the milestone reflects the continued trust that global financial institutions, investors, and innovators place in Dubai’s world-class legal and regulatory framework.

He also emphasized that DIFC’s continued growth supports the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to position Dubai among the world’s top four global financial centres.

Strong Growth Across Financial Services

DIFC further strengthened its position as the largest and most diversified financial services ecosystem in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA).

Key highlights include:

  • 1,134 regulated financial services firms, up 16% year on year.
  • 327 banking and capital markets firms operating within the Centre.
  • 165 insurance and reinsurance companies, reinforcing DIFC’s leadership as the region’s largest insurance hub.
  • 592 wealth and asset management firms, including the region’s highest concentration of hedge funds.

Several leading international organizations established regional offices in DIFC during the past year, reflecting growing global confidence in Dubai as a financial hub.

Innovation and AI Continue to Drive Growth

Innovation remains one of DIFC’s strongest growth engines.

The Centre now hosts 1,933 AI, FinTech, and innovation companies, representing a remarkable 39% increase compared to the previous year.

Earlier this year, DIFC announced its vision to become the world’s first AI Native financial centre, embedding artificial intelligence across regulation, operations, infrastructure, and talent development.

This transformation is expected to generate approximately USD 3.5 billion (AED 12.9 billion) in economic value and create around 25,000 new jobs, further strengthening Dubai’s leadership in the future of finance.

A Preferred Destination for Family Businesses

DIFC also continues to attract family businesses and private wealth from around the world.

During H1 2026:

  • Family business-related entities increased to 1,408, up 36% year on year.
  • Foundations grew to 1,409, representing an impressive 67% annual increase.

New initiatives, including the Family Wealth Centre Expert Advisory Council and the Next Generation Leadership Programme, continue to support succession planning, wealth preservation, and long-term family enterprise growth.

Investing in Future Talent

To support the financial sector’s evolving needs, DIFC Academy expanded its learning opportunities with 144 specialized programmes, a 22% increase compared to the same period last year.

These programmes are helping develop the next generation of professionals in finance, technology, and innovation.

Growing Infrastructure to Meet Demand

Demand for office space within DIFC continues to rise.

Major expansion milestones during the first half of 2026 include:

  • The launch of DIFC Zabeel District, supporting the Centre’s continued expansion.
  • DIFC Square, offering 600,000 square feet of premium office space, reached 100% pre-leasing before completion, demonstrating strong market demand.

Looking Ahead

DIFC’s record-breaking performance in H1 2026 reflects more than impressive numbers—it demonstrates Dubai’s continued rise as one of the world’s leading financial and innovation hubs.

With rapid growth across financial services, AI, FinTech, private wealth, and infrastructure, DIFC continues to attract global businesses, investors, and talent while helping shape the future of finance.
